Appreciated in the culinary field for its fruits, berries with a sweet-sour-aromatic flavour, which ripen from late summer until autumn inside the fruiting calyx with its peculiar lantern shape. The plant also displays a showy flowering during the summer period, which gives it added ornamental value.
