Description

An epiphytic plant belonging to the Orchidaceae family (orchids), prized for its distinctive flowers, which resemble a moth or butterfly – hence its common name – and which grow on stems rising from amongst the broad, succulent leaves. Under the right growing conditions, the inflorescences last a long time; furthermore, adult plants may flower two or three times a year.
Phalaenopsis is cultivated in a wide range of hybrids that differ mainly in terms of the height they reach and the colour of their flowers. It requires a warm, humid climate as well as suitable diffused light, sheltered from direct sunlight.
